Meet Kirstie Ferrell

I’m Kirstie Ferrell, a Family Nurse Practitioner and the founder of Hushed and Unheard.

After the loss of my son, Jai’, in 2023, I almost walked away from medicine. Not because I didn’t love it, but because I finally understood what it feels like to be on the other side. But God had other plans for my life.

I may not be able to solve every issue, but I will always try. I take my time because it matters to me that you don’t feel overwhelmed or unheard. I truly want to listen. You are not just a symptom or another number. You are someone’s loved one.

I graduated from Simmons College in 2018. I’m a mother, and that is one of the most important parts of who I am.

I have two beautiful children. I’m raising and loving on them every day. I carry my son, Jai’, with me in everything I do. I enjoy singing and talking with God. He is the reason I continued this path.

We offer individualized medical care for adolescents and adults, with a focus on listening, education, and thoughtful treatment planning.

Visits are tailored to your needs and may include evaluation, treatment, medication management, and ongoing follow-up care.

Getting Started at Hushed and Unheard

Becoming a patient is simple.

1. Submit a Membership or Visit Request
Complete the short form on our New Patients page. This helps us gather your information and guide you into the care option that fits best (Direct Primary Care or self-pay/BCBS-based visits).

2. Personal Review
Each request is personally reviewed to make sure we’re a great fit and to confirm the right type of visit for you.

If you have Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS), your visits will be billed through your insurance plan in accordance with our provider agreement. At this time, we are not able to see patients enrolled in Medicare, but we’re always happy to help point you in the right direction if needed.

3. Portal & Paperwork
Once everything is confirmed, you’ll receive access to our secure patient portal. You can complete your intake forms ahead of time, making your first visit smooth and stress-free.

Common Questions Before You Get Started

What is your practice model?

Hushed and Unheard, PLLC is a hybrid primary care practice.

We are in-network with select Blue Cross Blue Shield plans and will bill BCBS appropriately for covered services. At the same time, our practice is built around a Direct Primary Care (DPC) model. This allows for a more direct, simplified approach to care with transparent pricing, easier access, and the ability to spend more time with patients when needed.

For patients without BCBS, or those who prefer not to use insurance, we offer self-pay and DPC options designed to keep care straightforward and accessible. DPC is not a substitute for health insurance. We recommend maintaining coverage for services such as specialist care, hospitalizations, imaging, and other needs outside of the clinic.

Our approach is simple. We provide real primary care, offer clear options, and keep the focus on thoughtful, accessible care.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. We currently participate with select Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) plans for covered services, which are billed in accordance with your insurance benefits. We also offer a Direct Primary Care (DPC) membership. DPC is not insurance, is not billed to insurance, and does not replace health insurance coverage.

Do you offer virtual appointments?

Telehealth visits are available for patients across North Carolina for select services. Availability depends on the type of visit and clinical appropriateness.

In-person visits may be recommended when a physical exam or in-office evaluation is necessary.
